Jharokhas

Jharokhas represent the pinnacle of Rajasthani architectural artistry – ornate overhanging balconies that project from building facades like jewel boxes suspended in air. These enclosed viewing galleries allowed royal women to observe street life while maintaining privacy, and served as architectural focal points that proclaimed the owner's status and taste. Our jharokhas faithfully recreate this heritage, featuring intricately carved stone brackets that support the overhanging structure, elaborate jali screens providing privacy and ventilation, ornamental columns and pillars, domed or pyramidal canopies, and detailed carvings throughout. The construction of a jharokha requires exceptional skill in both artistic carving and structural engineering, as these elements must be both beautiful and structurally sound. While traditionally found in palaces and havelis, contemporary architecture increasingly incorporates jharokhas as statement elements that add character, heritage value, and visual drama to building facades.
